Data Governance and
Security Challenges in Cloud
Computing Cloud computing
has become the word every CXO of today's enterprises is chanting in
these times of recession. The cost benefits associated with availing
infrastructure as a service and being environment-friendly (in terms
of reducing energy consumption) make the word ‘Cloud Computing' an
interesting proposition. Despite the benefits, enterprises are not
readily adopting cloud computing solutions as it would require an
enterprise's data to be stored outside their walls and inability to
directly to ‘govern their data'. For an enterprise ‘in the cloud'
would also mean security challenges like role-based access controls,
data breaches and encryption key management. What are the challenges
involved and is ‘cloud computing' ready to blow away these
challenges?

Quality
–
a.
Agile Methodology -
from a quality perspective Agile Methods are
a very strong process where the elephantine steps of traditional
software development are replaced with a "smart" process. But
in many projects defined methods are being modified liberally in the
name of flexibility and agility. Are such modifications going
in the right direction? What are the issues facing
organizations when they use Agile Methods? What is right and wrong
about current trends in usage of agile methodologies?
b.
Quality &
Profitability
Importance of quality is now universally acknowledged and
expectations of what constitutes good quality continue to increase.
In the past expenditures on quality have not been explicitly linked
to profits because costs and savings were the only variables on
which information was available. More recently evidence about the
profit consequences of quality have been put foth by
companies and researchers. Do these evidences really show
a relationship between quality and profitability? Are the Quality
Management gurus who have always maintained that quality would
improve profitability correct?

Student
- Your perspective of an ideal IT/ITES workplace
Students in
general, regardless of the stream of education they pursue, do not
have a very clear idea of what their future workplace would be like
Thanks to the growth
prospects, global work environment and decent pay, the IT and ITES
industry has been a destination of choice for a lot of youngsters in
recent years
Do the students,
especially, women students really know what it is like working in
the IT/ITES industry? Do they know the difference between IT jobs
and ITES jobs? What kind of work culture exists in these companies?
Is there a difference between working for an Indian IT company and
foreign IT companies? What exactly are the career growth prospects?
How does this industry differ from other industries, say, Pharma, or
Healthcare or automobile? What are the challenges to expect? What
are the demands to fulfill? What are the critical skills required to
succeed in the industry? How does your performance get evaluated?
How does the company select who gets to work on which project? The
questions are endless.
We would like the
students to think through what it is really like to work in an
IT/ITES industry, not just as a fresher, but for the next three
decades into it. We encourage the contestants to conduct a survey or
discuss among the senior colleagues who are already working for
IT/ITES companies. We also would like the students to interact with
faculty, and other industry contacts to get an insight of what it is
like working in the IT/ITES industry. Present us your findings and
your perspective of an ideal IT/ITES workplace.
